Honoring Indigenous Culture

The National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month in the Philippines is celebrated every October to recognize the rich culture, traditions, and contributions of the country’s Indigenous communities. This year’s theme, “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development,” highlights how Indigenous traditions are important not just for history but also for building a better future. It reminds us that Indigenous Peoples play a key role in protecting culture, caring for the environment, and strengthening the nation.

During this month, various programs and events are held across the country, such as cultural showcases, dances, and traditional arts workshops, to celebrate and preserve Indigenous identity. Communities share their songs, dances, crafts, and stories so that young Filipinos can learn and appreciate their heritage. These activities not only honor ancestral knowledge and practices but also encourage unity, pride, and respect among all Filipinos.

I believe celebrating IP Month helps our nation remember that our Indigenous Peoples are valuable to Philippine culture and development. By empowering Indigenous communities, respecting their rights, and promoting their traditions, we help ensure that culture and sustainability go hand in hand. This celebration teaches us to value diversity and work together for a future where everyone can contribute to progress while keeping our heritage alive.

A Glimpse Into My Life

Hello everyone, I'm Rio Gabrielle C. Pamani. I'm 14 years old, turning 15 on august 29. I'm from Pantay Tamurong, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur. I will talk about my interests, hobbies, and daily routine. What I believe in is to trust my guts because it guides me everyday.      In our family, we are only four and I'm the eldest daughter. I was an only child for 13 years, but then my little sister was born. In the first few months it was hard for me to adjust, but then I did get used to it. During my free time I play piano, play guitar, watch k-dramas, and play with my little sister. I do help my family to do household chores sometimes, and when they are busy, I babysit my little sister. I love listening to music, i feel like i'm at peace whenever I listen to music. I also find peace when I'm alone. I'm interested in playing more instruments. I love spending time with my family and friends. Whenever I'm with my friends I always feel safe and I'm filled w...

Photo Blog: Coastal Clean-Up Drive

Coastal Clean-Up Drive Last week when we went to Chocosurf, I noticed that there was so much trash around the beach. This was caused by people throwing their trash around the beach. The Young Dreamers Club in our zone has decided to hold a clean-up drive here to help lessen the trash around the beach. So, I have volunteered to participate in the coastal clean-up drive.       We picked up so much trash around the beach, such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, and many more. Every area had different types of trash. After picking up the trashes w e put it in the trash can. We have picked up so many trashes that it didn't fit in the garbage bag we bought. So the rest of it we put it in the garbage around the beach. I hope people will clean their area after eating in the beach and bring their own garbage bag to lessen the trashes and to keep the beach clean.

ICT Second Quarter Reflection

The second quarter was a time of big learning for me, especially about how to build things on the internet. The most important thing I discovered was how to correctly use the different kinds of tag attributes. I learned that these attributes are special extra instructions that you add inside a tag to make it change. They tell the tag what color to be, how big to be, or where to go on the page. Getting to know these special instructions has helped me take much better control of the web pages I am learning to make. It was a major step forward from just knowing the basic tags themselves. I did not have very many hard problems during this quarter. Everything went smoothly for the most part, but the toughest challenge I faced was having to put in the tag attributes—or encoding them—perfectly. The computer is very strict. If I missed even one tiny thing, like a quotation mark, a semicolon, or a single letter, the entire attribute would not work. This meant I had to sp...
